A thaumatrope is a small card, held on opposite ends by pieces of string. An image is drawn on each side of the card, and is selected in such a way that when the card is spun, the two images appear to become superimposed.

This is a reproduction of a Thaumatrope set first published in Paris in the 1880's (Trompe L'Oeil). It includes twelve historical reproductions, two blank Thaumatropes for you to draw your own and a special historical Booklet; All packed in a nice box set. Box size 6½ x 41/8 x 1 inches (7 x 10.5 x 2.7 cm), shrinkwrapped.
